Kyu level exams take place twice a year – in July and December – at Aikido Amsterdam’s dojo. After consulting with your instructor, you can sign yourself up for them. Before you take the exam, make sure that you know all of the required techniques by heart, so that all you have to worry about is executing them correctly.

From the 3rd Kyu level onward, there is a monthly training for those aiming towards dan status. These are given by Nikki Lemmens (5th dan), and take place at the Dutch Aikikai Foundation headquarters at the Veemarkt in Amsterdam.

Dan level exams also take place at the DAF headquarters at the Veemarkt during Dan level training in July and December. The exams are given by guild members of the DAF. There is an exam committee for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dan levels; the 4th level dan exams are given by Wilko Vriesman (6th dan), technical director of the DAF.

Tom Dijkman is a guild member of the DAF and gives exams for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dan levels, as well as monthly preparation courses up to the 3rd dan level in the Vriesman dojo at the Veemarkt in Amsterdam.
